About the Project:

What if Dim Sum carts carry both Dim Sum and a library?

The story behind this question references back to the Asian community, specifically the Chinese population-based in Cleveland. Dim Sum is traditionally eaten in restaurants for breakfast and brunch. It consists of small dishes that customers can order from the Dim Sum carts that are usually pushed around the restaurant. Restaurants that carry Dim Sum businesses here in Cleveland are Li Wah, Emperor’s Palace, and Bo Long.

The main illustration (back of the shipping container) shows a bustling restaurant where customers enjoy food and engage in their readings. Waiter/Waitresses are serving both Dim Sum and books! The other three illustrations depict small moments that show off the Dim Sum carts, pouring tea and food!

The shipping container is now transformed into a mobile library for the AsiaTown residents and communities. Every Saturday and Sunday there are morning exercises a 9am till 11am. Sometimes you might catch a yoga class and square dancing class! Every Saturday, there are children's events starting at 11am to 1pm. You can see dinosaurs, puppets, arts & crafts, etc.!
